Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy Watch8 Series during its Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, which includes new health features such as measuring stress levels on a user's vascular system, an Antioxidant Index that allows wearers to track carotenoid levels, sleep coaching and identifying signs of sleep apnea.
The Watch8 Series includes Bedtime Guidance, which measures the wearer's circadian rhythm and sleep latency to suggest the optimal times to go to bed and wake up to feel rejuvenated. The wearables can also identify moderate to severe signs of sleep apnea.
In addition, the smartwatches include analysis of one's Vascular Load to monitor stress on the vascular system, as well as the first-ever Antioxidant Index on a smartwatch, which measures carotenoid levels.
Carotenoid levels serve as a biomarker for antioxidant status and overall nutritional health, suggesting whether one has a diet that supports strong antioxidant defenses and potentially lower inflammation, or poor dietary habits with increased oxidative stress and inflammation in the body.
The new wearables provide fitness support through Running Coach and social motivation via the updated Together feature, which enables users to gamify fitness by challenging friends or family.
For stress management, the Watch8 Series features High Stress Alerts, which signal when it's time to take a break and manage stress levels, as well as a Mindfulness Tracker with breathing exercises and mood tracking.
The watches' Energy Score provides wearers with a snapshot of their energy level based on physical and mental energy metrics.
Samsung and Google extended their partnership to allow the Galaxy Watch8 series to be the first smartwatches preloaded with Wear OS 6 and Google's AI assistant, Gemini.
Wearers can make requests of Gemini to begin a workout, and the watches initiate the Samsung Health App.
The Galaxy Watch8 starts at $349.99, the Watch8 Classic begins at $499.99 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra starts at $649.99.
During Galaxy Unpacked, Samsung also unveiled its new Galaxy Z Fold7, which is the thinnest Galaxy foldable so far and incorporates Gemini 2.5 Pro, calling it "engineered for the mobile AI era."
The tech giant also announced the Galaxy Z Flip7 with Flex Window.
Preorders for the company's new devices begin on July 9, with full availability on July 25.
