Apple Health Records

Apple's partnership with the VA will bring the mobile personal health record platform to more than 9 million veterans.

Patients using the platform will be able to share their EHR and medication history with One Drop coaches through the Health Records feature.

In addition to a Health Records API and various fitness updates to the Apple Watch, Apple made one more health announcement last week at WWDC: a slew of upgrades to ResearchKit including hearing, vision, and speech tests; an updated UI; and a new research API for monitoring Parkinson's tremors and dyskinesia.

Yesterday’s announcement that Apple would open the API for Health Records in iOS 12 will likely spawn a whole host of integrations with digital health companies in the coming months.

Apple has followed up on its launch of Apple Health Records at 39 health systems with the announcement today of a Health Records API, which will allow developers to create apps that can, with permission, use data from patients’ electronic health records to help people manage care, medications, nutrition, and more.

Many players in the healthcare industry are closely watching how Apple Health Records are performing in this rapidly changing market.
