Fitlinxx cancels D2C version of AmpStrip, will refund Indiegogo backers

Nearly a year after announcing its direct-to-consumer fitness tracker AmpStrip -- and after raising more than $500,000 on Indiegogo for it -- Fitlinxx has announced that it will not be developing AmpStrip as a fitness tracker, but rather as a medical device.

The University of Rochester has teamed up with Cambridge, Massachusetts-based medical sensor company MC10 to test the company's BioStamp platform in clinical settings and help it develop its disease-specific algorithms for predictive health analytics.
