Cha Bio Group, Kakao deepen partnership
Cha Bio Group, one of South Korea's largest biotechnology and healthcare companies, will acquire a minority stake in Kakao Healthcare as part of a share-swap agreement with its parent firm, Kakao Corp.
Through its subsidiaries Chacares and ChaAI Healthcare, the group will purchase 80 billion won worth of Kakao Healthcare shares—equivalent to about 43%—while CHA Biotech will raise 30 billion won in new capital allocated to Kakao.
Kakao Healthcare also plans to secure 50 billion won from external investors by the first quarter of next year. The share swap will fold its mobile chronic disease platform, medical data platform, research portal, and hospital concierge service into Cha Bio Group’s global healthcare network.
Taiwanese tech consortium targets Japan's elderly sector
A private operator of elderly care facilities in Japan is looking to tap into integrated technology solutions by a consortium of manufacturers, software developers, and service providers in Taiwan.
The 10-member Taiwan CareTech Alliance, led by Netown Corporation, a smart assistive device startup, signed a memorandum of understanding with Citrus Co. amid its expansion across the Japanese elderly care sector.
It has also received interest from local distributors and orders totalling over $890,000, the consortium's press statement said.
Qure.ai joins Microsoft's Precision Imaging Network
Microsoft is onboarding Qure.ai's AI-powered lung cancer detection and management suite onto its marketplace platform for medical imaging AI.
In a statement, the Indian company said its solutions will be onboarded onto Microsoft's Precision Imaging Network, which provides healthcare providers with access to a catalogue of third-party and regulated AI models.
Approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, Qure.ai's lung cancer solutions are powered by large language models and agentic AI to detect, measure, and quantify lung nodules on chest X-rays and CT scans, as well as manage workflows.
