Telecoms giant Vodafone has launched its 5G network in seven cities across the UK earlier today, switched on by five-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in London.

Oxford VR, an Oxford University spinout company, has announced the launch of its leading-edge treatment for common mental health conditions through a unique partnership with AXA HK and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

AXA Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Oxford VR (OVR) announced a first-of-a-kind partnership to pilot a groundbreaking automated immersive therapy using virtual reality (VR) for mental health in Asia including the Greater Bay Area.

A new study published in the Journal of Pediatrics found that patients using a VR system reported less pain when being treated with a needle than their counterparts who received the standard of care. 

The Commission on the Future of Surgery, set up by the Royal College of Surgeons, previously said VR would become a "standardised aspect of surgical training" in the future.

Giblib, a medical education streaming service with offerings including both VR and traditional videos of medical lectures and surgeries, has raised $2.

A multicentre trial of their system will start this week in the south of England, according to the company.
