Since IBM launched its Watson Health business unit last month, the company has been busy, announcing a flurry of partnerships and deployments of its cognitive computing software in different sectors of the healthcare industry.

Denver, Colorado-based Welltok raised $12 million co-led by Hearst Ventures and Catholic Health Initiatives.

By the end of the second quarter this year, digital health funding had already surpassed the total funding for 2014, according to a June 2014 report from Rock Health.

IBM's Watson has yet another new gig, and it could lead to a novel way for big data to interact with personalized healthcare.
